Vicki & Martin chose the beautiful Grange Manor for a wonderfully personal wedding filled with family, laughter, music and meaningful touches.

Vicki & Martin reminisce:

Can you tell me about your theme if you had one, the inspiration behind it and how you incorporated it into your wedding?

“We didn’t really have a set theme that we wanted until we started looking at ideas for centrepieces. We decided we wanted to incorporate music somewhere and I liked the idea of log slices and fairy lights so we came up with the idea of using them with vinyl records featuring personalised stickers with lyrics from songs we both love. We’re both big Harry Potter fans so the welcome sign and cake topper were made using designs from Harry Potter. So the whole theme ended up being stuff that we liked and was important to us.”

What first drew you to your wedding venue?

“We knew we wanted somewhere local to us as we didn’t want guests to have far to travel to and from the venue, we went to a wedding fayre at The Grange Manor and liked everything about the venue and the package they provided, so it was a pretty easy decision for us.”

What was the atmosphere like on the big day?

“The atmosphere was brilliant throughout the whole day and night. Our friends and family were involved during the ceremony which was conducted by a fantastic Humanist, David Smith. We had a friend play music for us and our 12 year old son gave me away and gave a speech. Our 14 year old daughter was a bridesmaid, we had a lovely night together staying at the hotel the night before the wedding and I loved getting ready with her in the morning.

Our DJ at night was Don Robertson and the dance floor was full all night, he even played some random requests that were important to us and it was a brilliant night followed by an amazing day.”

How did your chosen venue go above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect?

“We met Susan a few times in the lead up to the wedding and she couldn’t have been more accommodating, she answered all our questions and we felt reassured that everything would be looked after on the day. Archie was master of ceremony on the day and he made sure everything ran smoothly and on time without rushing us. The food was perfect, the order of the day was perfect and we couldn’t have asked for a better wedding.”

Who was your chosen Photographer and why did you choose them?

“Our photographer was Tommy Hamilton and we chose him as we had met him previously at a friend’s wedding and immediately knew he was the photographer for us. We also booked a videographer, Kale Buchanan. I was unsure about a videographer but my husband really wanted one and it turned out to be one of the best decisions we made, alongside booking Tommy. Kale and Tommy worked seamlessly together, I didn’t feel like there was a camera in my face all day!

I mean our cheeks were sore from smiling at each other but we got amazing photographs and have loved watching our video back. Tommy and Kale were great with all our guests and we had a great laugh with both of them over the course of the day. They even traipsed through fields and lifted me onto a haybale to get some amazing shots!”

What was the most memorable part of your day?

“Honestly the whole thing was amazing from start to finish. Two of our biggest highlights were the ceremony and our sons speech.

The ceremony was really personal to us, we spent a good while chatting to our humanist before hand and he delivered the perfect amount of comedy and emotion, there were more than a few laughs and tears! Especially during our vows which we wrote ourselves.

Our sons speech will always be memorable to us. He wrote it himself, delivered it perfectly and every single guest without exception commented on how amazing he was. He started it by downing water from a shot glass and immediately had the whole room laughing! We just wish we could relive the day all over again!”
